Pooooor Jaaaackie Got a Boo Boo!!!!!

Remember Jack, our Ward/Foster Dog?
He was abandoned by the Family that
lived a few houses from us. They moved
and left him behind to fend for himself.
AJ and ME fed him and gave him shelter
on our front porch, but he still had the
run of the neighborhood.

Monday morning I got up and prepared
his warm breakfast as usual. When I went
out to feed him he did not jump out of his
bed to eat, as he usually does.
"What's wrong Jack? Not hungry this morning"
He looked up at me and immediately I got sick!
Sometime during the night he had injured his eye.
I called for AJ to come look at it closer,
I couldn't.
AJ said he could not tell how bad it was.
It was swelling and mattering.
AJ and Me just decided to let him be for now.
He laid in his bed most of the day, Monday,
and would not eat a bite.
Tuesday found him somewhat better
in spirits. The eye was now looking really bad though.
This is when AJ and Me decided to call our Vet.
We told them our story of how Jack was a Stray
and we had befriended him.
We had no idea of how Jack would act in a
car or at the Animal Clinic. He is a gentle dog,
but he also had an injury and that, can
change a dogs disposition.
They told AJ and ME to bring him in first
thing Wednesday morning and they would take
him in right away, no waiting.
Early Wednesday morning AJ and ME, working
as a team, got Jack in the car and headed for
the Vet's.
AJ and ME were very pleasently surprised that
Jack took, very well, to the car.
He looked out the window much of the trip.
AJ carried him in the office and a Vet Tech
took him from us and again he was as
sweet as always. It seemed as if he knew
we were all helping him.
Jack spent the whole day at the Clinic.
He was put under sedation and
the Vet found it was the lid that had been torn.
The eye ball seemed fine and he had not
lost any sight. I was so relieved! I had been
saying and thinking his eye had been poked out!
He had a few stiches. AJ and ME have to
put an ointment in his eye 3 times a day
and he has to take antbiotics for 5 days.
He will go back in a week to get the stitches out.
~~~
Here is Jack now feeling so much better.
The Vet had to shave the hair around the eye,
so it looks like he is sporting a "Shinner".
If you look close, you can see,
Jack now wears a collar
and he also had a Rabies Shot.
~~~

No more running the streets for Jack.
Jack is now confined to part of our yard.
As he gets used to not running the neighborhood,
we will introduce him to the whole back yard
and see how he performs with AJ's Pigeons and
of course our Baby Marley.
~~~
His bed is in the garage so he still has shelter.
Jack's world has gotten smaller, and even
though he may not know it now,
It is for the BEST.
AJ and ME really did not want a second dog
at this time, but sometimes you are not
incharge.
Jack is the 8th stray animal AJ and ME
have taken in and given a good/loving Home.
And believe Me and AJ, we are the ones
that reap the benefits!
