These are a Few of Her Favorite Things

My Mom is 83 years old and has gone by a number of nicknames
over the past 83 years. We have:
Monk
Dort
Red
Dot
Sister
Mom
Grandma
but the nickname she now has, has stuck for the past 9 years,
Mu (Moo).
~~~
~~~
~~~
Mu has had alot of "Favorite Things" over the years and they have changed
on a regular basis.
Now at age 83, these are some of "Her Favorite Things".
~~~
~~~
~~~

A few summers ago (daughter) Cher planted 3 Clematis Plants
in Her backyard. If you know anything at all about Clematis, they take
a couple of years to take hold and really show-off.
I do not know how many times last summer, she would have me look at them and she would say
"I don't think they are going to make it!".
I would reassure Her "they are fine, give them time".
~~~
~~~
~~~
Well this Spring was their 3rd year
and they really POPPED!
~~~
~~~
~~~

They are just Gorgeous!
~~~
~~~
~~~
She also has 2 Rose Bushes in the front Bed that are also
Blooming. A Shabby Pink and a Yellow Rose of Texas, it reminds
Her of John (her Son who lives in Texas).
~~~
~~~
~~~

This Guy, Buddy, ranks very high on Her "Favorite Things" List.
She got Buddy, as a kitten, last summer, so she has had him almost a year.
He has become a very BIG part of Her life.
Prior to Bud, when you visited with Mu, you would hear all about the
aches and pains of an 83 year old. Now when visiting with Mu you hear
all about
"The Cat".
~~~
~~~
~~~
This is the:
Cutest
Smartest
Meanest
most Loving
most Curious
Friendliest
Cleanest
Best Cat in the World,
says Mu!
~~~
~~~
~~~

Grandkids and Great-Grandkids are really high on
Her "Favorite Things" List.
~~~
~~~
~~~
Cooking has always been a "Favorite Thing" of Mu's.
My vote-
She makes the best Home-made Tomato Soup
AJ's vote-
the best Hot Beef Sandwich
& thick Chicken & Noodles
Wade's vote-
the best Okra & Tomatoes
Jen's vote-
the best Broccoli Soup
Madison's vote-
the best Green Beans
Cassie's vote-
the best Chili
John's vote-
the best Potato Salad
& German Chocolate Cake
Cher's vote-
the best Pot Roast
and we all agree the best-
Pot of Stew!!!
~~~
~~~
~~~

The Top of Mu's
"Favotite Things" List
is Family.
She loves Family,
the ones here and the ones there.
Her door is always open to out-of- towners,
and they always leave to soon.
~~~
~~~
~~~
Now I really do not know where this
"Favorite"
fits into her
"Favorite Things" List
but it
DEFINITELY
does.
~~~
I love you Mom (Mu) !!!

The Greatest Wild Bird

As you know AJ and Me love birds.

We have 100+ Pigieons to care for

and

a whole World of Wild Birds (Okay a Back Yard full) to feed.

~~~
~~~
~~~
Every morning AJ and ME throw a handful of bread crumbs out the back door.
And this is TRUE,
before the bread hits the ground the birds are there.
I told AJ if he was to stand in the back yard, arms stretched out with bread crumbs in
the palms of his hands, they would perch on him and feed.
I would love a picture of that.
~~~
~~~
~~~

We have also found the neatest Web Site. It is an Eagle Nest live feed.

The address is:

suttoncenter.org/eaglecam.html

We look at this every morning, afternoon and night.
There were 2 eggs but only 1 hatched.
The Baby Eaglet is about 3 weeks old.

~~~
~~~
~~~
These are pictures of newly hatched Eaglets I found on the internet.
~~~
~~~
~~~

You really have to be a Bird Fancier to think these are cute.
I think they are Cute!

~~~
~~~
~~~
This Big Guy is not to far from being all feathered out.
~~~
~~~
~~~

This is a Fledgling. He is a young bird with flight feathers newly developed.
He is immature and inexperienced and still depends on
Mom and Dad to feed him.

~~~
~~~
~~~
Did You know?????
The body length of an adult Eagle is about 37"
An adult Eagle's wing span can be up to 90"
An adult Eagle can weigh up to 28 pounds.
The female is larger then the male.
~~~
Please check out the web site:

suttoncenter.org/eaglecam.html

and I bet you might just become a little a addicted to it!

~~**And don't forget to feed and water our Wild Birds. **~~
They will Thank You for it!

Earth Day

Today April 22, 2009 is
Earth Day.

~~~
~~~
~~~
There are so many things we can do to help this Earth we live on.
I love this idea of using these canvas Totes instead of the store's
Plastic or Paper Bags. These Bags are so cheap, $1.00 each!
Did you know that every Plastic Bag you toss away that goes into a
Land Fill or Dump will still be laying there 100 years from now, unchanged.
If you do use Bags from your stores, ask for Paper. They will at least
disintegrate into the Earth, but then you are taking away some of our trees.
~~~
~~~
~~~

We would all be so surprised to know how many trees are
cut down each year for Paper Products. The trees release Oxygen
into our air, so when a tree falls so does our Oxygen level.
We can help by planting a Tree if we have the space.
Also
a Bush or just Flowers Help.
Really!!!
~~~
~~~
~~~
This year my Snowball Bush is helping the Earth.
~~~
~~~
~~~

These Pretties are also doing their best.
~~~
~~~
~~~
I love this small bush. It has leaves all year long.
Red in the winter and Green in the Summer.
It gives out Oxygen 365 days a year.
Nice going Little Guy.
~~~
~~~
~~~

Along with planting beautiful plants there are a couple other things
you can do to help our Earth.
1-Recycle anything!
2- When brushing your teeth, do not let the water run.
Just think how much water is wasted.
~~~
One other thing to think about today and every day:
God made my Earth
and Jesus
"Made My Day!"
Billowy Oklahoma Clouds
Webster Dictionary:
Billow-A rolling mass, like a great wavy, to rise and fall, to swell
~~~
~~~
~~~
This is the kind of sky, in the Spring, that can make you a little
nervous, but at the same time you can't stop looking at it in awe.
~~~
~~~
~~~
These were moving quite fast.
~~~
~~~
~~~

In a matter of just a few minutes
~~~
~~~
~~~
the sun came out and they were gone, replaced by a blue sky.
Cinderella (Cassie) is Off to the Ball (Prom)!!!!
About 5:00 PM Cinderella had all her chores finished:
Shower
Manicure
Pedicure
Hair Style
Dress & Jewelery on.
~~~
~~~
~~~

Now since there are no Little mice in the house

(thanks to Alfie, Annie and Andy)

Aunt Jen helped Our Cinderella with the make-up and finishing touches.

~~~
~~~
~~~
Remember, our Cinderella is the most comfortable in Levis and T-shirts.
But tonight
Bibbity Bobbity Boo
a beautiful Prom dress.
~~~
~~~
~~~

I think Cinderella is thinking, by the look on her face

"I really feel different!

This just might work".

~~~
~~~
~~~
and it did work!
~~~
~~~
~~~

Cinderella, you are beautiful!!!

~~~
~~~
~~~
No Glass Slippers tonight.
Black Pattent Leather Pumps for the entrance and Pictures,
then a quick change into the flip flops for dancing.
~~~
~~~
~~~

The Prom Garter is worn by the Fellow on his upper arm

during the Prom.

I didn't know that!

Did you?

~~~
~~~
~~~
Here Cinderella is pinning on a Pink Rose Butonniere.
Prince John seems to be really enjoying the attention of his
Princess.
~~~
~~~
~~~

I think Our Cinderella is very happy with her Wrist Corsage.

A small Bouquet of Pink Roses.

~~~
~~~
~~~
The couple left the Castle in a Red Chariot (Truck)
and Dinned on
Roast Pig (BBQ).
They toasted the evening with Tankards of Ale (glasses of Dr. Pepper).
Then off to the Ball.
Like all Good Cinderellas, she was home at midnight.
Prince John was invited in for snacks
and a couple of hours of reminiscing
"The Magic Evening"
I Love You, Catherine!
Bird Training 101
This is a Baby Homer a few weeks old. Someday AJ will enter it in a Pigeon Show.
Now is the perfect age to start training.
First it must learn to balance on a shoulder.
~~~
~~~
~~~

Now it must learn to balance on a shoulder while AJ is walking.

It is slightly cheating with the claw hold on the collar.

~~~
~~~
~~~
A Show Bird must look good. Wings back, chest out, head tall and eyes straight ahead.
Good Job! Little Guy!
~~~
~~~
~~~

Now a little Aerobics.
First legs apart. Tuck those wings in tight. Now stretch, stretch tall.
Now hold it, to the count of 10.
Thats great!
~~~
~~~
~~~
Now Deep Knee Bends.
Up-down, Up-down, Up-down
Feel the burn!
Good Job.
No pain-no gain!!
~~~
~~~
~~~

After a good work-out Aj gives the Little Guy some well
deserved praise and reasures him he will be a Champion
some day.
~~~
This is the time of year our Wild Birds are building nests.
Bird houses are so inexpensive you can put out quite a few.
You can also make them.
You will really enjoy watching the bird families.
Wade's 40-Something Birthday!
One of our Family Traditions is the "Birthday Person" gets to pick the place to eat for their Birthday Celebration.
I always pick Red Lobster.
Well it was Wade's Birthday Saturday, April 11. We all wondered where we would be spending the evening.
Mexican?, a Steak House?, Chinese Buffet?
NOPE!
Saturday morning he puts his arm around ME and whispers in my ear
"Can we cook out at your house tonight?"
and I say "You bet".
~~~
~~~
~~~
First thing was to boil potatoes and eggs for Potato Salad. Then I made a Lime Jello
Salad with Pineapple and Cottage Cheese. After that I whipped together an Apple Pie.
The Party was in the making!
~~~
~~~
~~~
That evening AJ fired up the Grill and filled it with Burgers.
This was so nice. No one had to get fancied up. T-shirts & Ballcaps, unkept hair styles,
and no make-up were acceptable. Licking fingers, drinking out of pop cans, standing and reaching across the table was A-Okay at
Mimi's Kitchen Cafe.
~~~
~~~
~~~

Since it was Easter Eve, egg coloring was on the Menu also.
Egg Coloring is very serious business.
~~~
~~~
~~~
The Birthday Boy retired to the living room after dinner.
If you check out the TV there is something going on with Corndogs.
I think Wade is watching the Food Channel.
He is probably planning next year's Birthday Meal!
~~~
~~~
~~~

Back in the kitchen the Girls are still at the egg coloring.
These were Tie-Dyed Eggs.
What happened to cups of dye and dunking the eggs?
Technology?
~~~
~~~
~~~
The boiled eggs were put into little plastic bags. Drops of dye dropped on them
and then squish-squish, rub-rub, and
Taa-daa !!!!
A Tied Dyed Egg!
~~~
~~~
~~~

One good thing, this was not messy for the hands.
But you had to really watch the Elbows!
~~~
~~~
~~~
After the Egg Coloring came the Pie.
This is one of those desserts that doesn't look "picture perfect",
but tastes Grrrr-eat!
~~~
~~~
~~~

Happy Birthday Wade!
I hope you know how much AJ and ME love you~
and
thanks!!!
for wanting to spend your special night
at our home.
