Friend or Foe ?

By now I am sure all of you know AJ raises
Pigeons. He has had Pigeons that lived
to be 13 years old. Alot of Pigeon breeders
get rid of these Old Timers, they no longer
win in Pigeon Shows and no longer
reproduce, all they do is eat and cost the
breeder money. AJ lets his Birds live as long as
they are healthy.
AJ has lost a few of his Birds due to disease.
AJ and ME live in town so we do not fly our
Birds and this is one of the reasons-

A Cooper Hawk
(Click on the picture and it will enlarge this Bird.)

So very pretty, but so very deadly.
We have actually had these Hawks fly
into the loft screen trying to get a Pigeon and injurying birds and even killed at least one.

Please feed the Wild Birds!

Christmas Day, 2009

2009 was the year for a very
WHITE CHRISTMAS.
We usually open gifts Christmas Eve
and then eat Christmas Dinner
Christmas Day.
This year AJ and ME spent Christmas Eve
at home alone because of the blizzard.
Unpassable roads made it impossible
to get to Jen, Wade and Madison.
Christmas morning Wade came and got AJ & ME
and my Mom. Wade had shoveled snow all
morning to clear his drive so his Christmas Guests
could get in the house safely.

Jen was preparing also. She lit the fireplace
so the living room was warm and homey.
The ham was in the oven, so the house smelled
so gooood! There were yeast Dinner Rolls rising
on the cupboard getting ready to be baked
at just the right moment.
Jen and Wade had let Madison open some of her
"Biggy" gifts Chrismas Eve. It's hard to make
a 9 3/4 year old wait till morning when she is used
to opening gifts on the 24th.
She would call ME every time she opened
a gift, to let ME know what she had gotten.

Gift opening began.
Madison is a good helper
with her MU's gifts. It is hard for Mom to
open some packages.

Madison loves everthing she opens.
If it was up to her, she would have modeled
every piece of clothing she got.

Here Madison is opening a very small boxed gift.

Nice things do come in small packages!
~
When Jen was 11 years old her MU gave
her a diamond ring (her birthstone).
Jen has told Madison this story many
times. Madison now thinks when she turns 11
she would like a diamond ring.
~
Jen got her a little Gold Band, and told
her if she wears this for 1 year and does
not lose it, she will then be responsible
enough to wear a nice ring,
maybe a diamond.
We'll check out this precious little hand
in a year.

Christmas is such a fun time. We all
"LOVE"
to open gifts.
It isn't whats in the packages,
it's the fun of opening them.
AJ got his favorite hard candy
"Hore Hound"

Jen and Wade shopped at Sam's
this year. We got alot of "really big stuff",
in size I mean. A Giant size can of Chili.

A Giant container of Coffee Mate.
Not in the picture was large size mayo, coffee,
popcorn. Ghirardell Cake Mix, Cinnabon
Muffin Mix and a box of 24 boxes of Junior Mints.
These are all jumbo sized from Sam's!

We of course took our newest addition to
the Family "Marley", to the Celebration.
She was really a very good Girl.

She sat on AJ's lap the most of the day.
She wasn't at all fond of wearing his hat.

Some gifts were really off the wall, like this
leopard patterned, long handled,
dust pan and wisk broom for MU.
A box of 24 canned Cat Foods will just hit
the spot for Mu's kitty Buddy.

Madison is thrilled over her very own
seedless watermelon.
Her very favorite fruit!
Here Madison gets a Facial Spa.

Here she is telling us we are all going to get a
relaxing spa treatment.

Here AJ gets 500 Popcorn Bags.

He is telling Madison,
she has a lot of Popcorn to eat.

I think Jen is really happy with
the gift from Madison.

PJs with Peace Signs.
How Retro 60"s!

Wade got all the Girls
Snuggys!
Blankets with arms.

They really are "Snuggy"!
Just ask AJ.

Recycled gift!
Every time Madison would go to
her Great Grandmother's (Mu) she would
ask Mu if she could have this old purse.
Mu would tell her no.
So Mu surprised her this Christmas
with the Purse.
Mu then tells her to open up the purse
and see if she likes what's in it?

Like YAAAA!
Money!!!

Here Mu gets a gift from Jen & Wade she
thinks is to pretty to open.

Finally, after saving the bow for her,
she opens the box.

OOOOOOH....WOOOOOO
I think she likes whats in it.

"Oh my, I love it, Thank you!"
says Mu.

"My Gosh how much is in here?
And so many different kinds."

Jen had bought her Grandmother a big
box of assorted
GODIVA Chocolates.
There were bars, truffels, covered cherries
and so much more.
She sampled them very quickly!
Being a very fair Girl, Jen got
Madison and ME some GODIVA also.
Our box was no way near the size of
Mu's.
Here you can see my Mom's pile is getting taller and taller.
At Christmas Jen and Wade have 4 Kids instead
of 1.
AJ, ME, Mu and Madison

Here is another pretty box for Mu, from Jen.
This is an easy one for her to open,
no tape or ribbons.
A real CUTE Gift!
A Porcelain Baby Doll.

This Baby lays on her tummy and her
Little Behind shows.

Wade slips in with this big box and gives it to Jen.

It is a Big Flat Screen HDTV for her bedroom.

Jen scolds Wade. They were not going to
exchange large gifts this year.
She had only bought him new underwear
this year for Christmas.
"Okay!", he gives in, "I'll share the TV with
you" he says.
He can't wait for the Super Bowl,
Basketball Games, Baseball Games
Hockey, Wrestling, etc!
Gift opening went on for about 3 hours
with a few breaks.

We can not thank these Kids enough!
They go overboard every year!
No mater how much AJ and ME protest!

I hope Jen and Wade don't get upset
when I tell a secret.
Wade gives money at Christmas, at his work for unfortunate
families.
They adopted a Little Girl, from Madisons
School, for Christmas.
They got her lots of
gifts that she would not have had,
had it not been
for Jen, Wade and Madison.
Jen got a young unwed Mother with
a 7 month old baby, much needed baby
gifts, plus a Car Seat.
She opened up her home to a Friend on
Christmas day.
He is single and his Parents
and family are many states away.
~
These 2 Kids, that I call Mine,
are Great and I am so very
Proud of them!
and to all a Good Night!

Blizzard...a long severe snowstorm... Webster Dictionary

This is what Christmas Eve, 2009, looked like to about
one half of the United States.

This went on all day and into the night.

This is "The Morning After".
The sun is shinning and it is really quite pretty.
There is no noise, no car motors, no human
voices, no birds chirping, no squirrels chattering
and no dogs barking. Just quite.

I had moved Jack's bed from the flower bed
to the porch and I am so glad I did.
If I had left his bed in the original place
he would have been snow covered.

He made it through the storm just fine.
During the day when it was blowing snow
so bad, I would take the blankets in every so often
and dry them in the dryer.
He stayed in the bed all day Christmas Eve.

I checked on him during the night and he was
always hunkered down in the blankets, all warm
and toasty.

I caught him waking up the next morning.
He is stretching his neck from being curled up all night.

AJ got up Christmas morning and cleared our sidewalk off.

After AJ got quite a bit of the snow shoveled,
Jackie decides it's now safe to travel out on.

He also tells ME it was a long cold night
and he is ready for a warm breakfast!

With the help of Jack's supervision, AJ did
a great job of clearing the snow from our
sidewalk and drive.

Please throw out bread to the birds or fill your
feeders with seed. They will
"Thank You"!
