Saturday Night at the Nursing Home....Making Mom Purdy!

Jen & I decided Saturday Night was a good time to play with Mom's Hair. She had gotten a Perm about a month ago and had alot of curl....but when the Girls give Mom her shower they are not allowed to let the residences to have "Wet Heads".....so they blow dry the hair while brushing it back! There goes the curls!! She usually has just a bushy little hair-do, as seen in this picture.

The Beauty Shop was closed, but we decided to open it up just for Mom. The first thing Jen did was wet it completly down.
She then gave it a good rubbing to bring out the curls.

The she applied Mousse and rubbed that in real good.

WOW! Mom you still have lots of curls. Her hair is quite a bit finer then it was when she was healthy, but still not alot of Gray.

After the Mousse we put her under the dryer. Sitting under a Hair Dryer can be very boring, so to keep her occupied we gave her.....

No...!!!, not a cigarette!!!!

One of her "Favorite Things"! A Red Sucker from the Bank. AJ came home with this sucker the other day. All of us, always, have Mom on our minds.

She sucked on this Sucker the whole time she was under the dryer. The Nurses said she ate no dinner that night and she ate little to nothing for lunch either. She is losing weight and the Doctor is having her weighed weekly. When she does not eat well she does get a Peck Feeding( a feeding through the tube in her tummy).

After her hair was dry Jen picked it out and it look pretty darn good. Mom of course was not about to give up that Sucker!

We closed up the Beauty Shop and took Mom to her room to get her ready for bed. We undressed her and put on a New Gown that Jen had gotten her that day. Jen changed her under brief. Mom no longer uses the toilet. She is scared to death of it. My Mom no longer smiles, nor does she laugh. It is very hard to feed her because she will not open her mouth up wide enough to get a spoon of food in. Drinking from a glass is almost gone also. She drinks from a straw or sippy cup. She is very hard to dress and undress, her muscels and joints get very ridged and tight.

Mom is like a Little Parrot, she repeats what you say. So after Jen got her all tucked in bed, she says to her M00 (her Grandma) "I love you Moo, can I have an I love you Jen" and she says, like a little Mocking Bird

"I love you Jen"

and then we leave.
