Feb. 4th 2011, my life was somewhat normal. I was planning on doing a little house remodling, thinking about my Birthday and the Crab Legs I would eat, thinking of the up and coming spring and what I wanted to plant this year. I was actively selling on eBay and hitting the Thrift Stores. I was doing a little Blogging and messing around on Facebook. I was cooking regular meals and sharing them with my Mom and Jen's Family. I was shopping for my Mom, food and Meds, taking her to the Doc, if needed, spending some time with her most every day and talking to her on the phone 6- 10 times a day. She had a Housekeeper and a Visiting Nurse.
She also has dementia.
Dementia is a loss of brain function that occurs with certain diseases. It affects memory, thinking, language, judgement and behavior. It is nonreversible.
On Feb. 5th, 2011 my Mom called me and was very frightened. She didn't realize she was in her home, she thought she was out in the country somewhere and wanted me to come get her and take her home. At this point I knew I needed to get my Mom some help. She had signs of mild dementia for about 3 years. She had now got to the point where we were afraid she might wander out of her home, hurt herself cooking or even be taken advantage of by a stranger. I called Jen, and her and I took Mom to the ER at the Baptist Integris. That was the beginning of the journey my Mom, Jen and I have been on with the help and support from Loving Family living out of state.
This is a List of where my Mom has been since Feb. 4th 2011 until now.
